I made these paper flowers for a friend who experienced a loss last week. She loves flowers but feels the industry is not environmentally sustainable, so I thought she’d appreciate these alternatives. . . . Paper by @cartefinicrepepaper Tinted with @panpastelLook how happy this plant looks in its new home! 🌱 I made this planter last summer and finally got it home to NYC for planting. I was super inspired by @elementclaystudio and her stunning planters and bowls and all the texture and 3D elements she incorporates. So I set out to see if I could create something in cement that was inspired by her work. I could have made a mold or something I’m sure, but instead I made a cup planter and I made lots of little balls, and then I used cement like mortar to stick the little balls all over the planter, and then I made a very runny mix and poured it over to create a cohesive exterior layer. Not the easiest or cleanest of methods, but also sorta fun. 😁 I’ll post some behind the scenes pics of the making in my stories.Finished spoons! I’m stoked with how these came out and am already working on more. The spoon at the back is flat bottomed and I flattened the end, for a more modern look inspired by a spoon I saw when perusing the Crafter’s Box hashtag. So far I’m struggling most with the bowls, getting them deep enough and smooth enough. But practice makes perfect, right? Thanks for the great video tutorial @melanieabrantesdesigns this was a great way to start the new year.Finishing 2018 just as I started it, with some quiet crafting time learning a new skill thanks to @thecraftersbox and @melanieabrantesdesigns. Swipe to see where my spoon started, and how much progress I made today. What a year it has been! So many fun projects, so many wonderful workshops both local and far afield. I love all the @thecraftersbox projects that popped up plus the nods to both the fabulous weekend I had at the @creativesocialretreat and the workshop I took from @flaxandtwine after falling in love with her new book and trying some projects on my own. Cheers to another fabulous year of crafting and exploring outside my comfort zone! 🥂🍾 #mytopnine #topnineI just love handmade gifts! These adorable pillow cases are a project I helped a colleague put together as gifts for the grandparents and aunts/uncles from her kids. First she had the kids draw different pictures. These cars (and the I Love You) were done by her almost 5 year old, and her 3 year old traced her little hand. She then carved them into stamps and block printed them on these pillow cases, one side for each kid. I’ve always loved how @bookhou gets different gradients in her patterns by printing each stamp twice so we used that technique, and I also used some of the tips I learned from @gingiber at the @creativesocialretreat for the stamp carving and printing. We were both super happy with the results, aren’t they just the perfect personalized gift for relatives?!About Me
